LDN Reviews: Junkyard Golf Club Camden

Junkyard Golf Club Camden: The Stables Market, 307 – 308 Camden Lock Pl, Chalk Farm Rd, London NW1 8AB

AD | We were invited to the launch party of Junkyard Golf Club Camden to test the courses (and cocktails) out for ourselves. Read on for our verdict…

Nestled in the heart of Camden Lock Market is the newest in the family of seven Junkyard Golf Club venues. Taking over the former site of the Shaka Zulu restaurant and club, Junkyard Golf Club Camden boasts four courses, three bars, retro arcade games and a whole lot of crazy fun. Opened as a pop up in 2015, the Junkyard group believed they would only be open for about three weeks. Well eight years later and here we are, with seven Junkyard Golf Clubs dotted around the country.

For those that aren’t familiar with the concept, Junkyard Golf Club are indoor crazy golf courses based on the junk you would find in a scrapheap. With neon lights, fun props and a club-esque soundtrack the venues have always been busy when I’ve visited and exude good vibes. If you’re looking for something to do in London, a date venue, to fill a rainy afternoon or to have a giggle with some mates, Junkyard Golf is a great venue.

Junkyard Golf Club Camden: The Golf

Hosting four courses with varied themes, Junkyard Golf Club offers Dirk, Bozo, Pablo and Gary to choose from. We started off on the Dirk course, taking a dig through Dirk’s treasures with a myriad of crazy and creative holes. One of my favourite holes in the whole place was hole two on Dirk; a par 3 called ‘Bad Drains’ that looked like a disused public toilet. Check it out for yourself on our Instagram reel.

Up next was Bozo, nine holes based on creepy clowns with a hall full of mirrors, ferris wheel, a merry go round and a terrifying screaming clown hole. Also the round that I scored a hole in one on!

Pablo comprises of a tropical terror theme, with grizzly bears in cages and tropical palm trees lining the putting greens. Lastly we have Gary, a nineties disco junkyard with some seriously crazy holes. Slide off the roof of a mini and putt around the back end of a BMW in Gary’s Garage; this is the course that I would recommend the most as it was SO different to any I’ve seen before!

The Bar

Junkyard Golf Club are almost as renowned for their cocktails as they are for their golf, and with good reason. With a menu broken into sections including ‘Junkyard Favourites’, Boozy Cocktails, Fun & Fruity and Classics, there’s something for everyone, including mocktails. If cocktails aren’t your bag there’s also a number of beers on tap, cans, wine and shots.

First off we tried the Triple Rum Punch and the Bourbon Bakewell, which were both delicious and suitably boozy. After another round of golf, we were back to quench our thirst at the bar where I tried the real showstopper: A Bubblegum Sunset. A sweet-tooth’s dream, this tasted just like the bubblegum at the bottom of a screwball and was so tasty. Get your tastebuds tingling and see the cocktails for yourself in our TikTok.

Junkyard Golf Club Camden run a Happy Hour from Sunday to Wednesday, with selected cocktails just £7.

We had a great time at Junkyard Golf Camden, and will definitely be back again! The holes were wonderfully creative, with loads to see and explore on each round. I loved that there were retro arcade games on the upper tier of the venue that were free to play, providing another activity while you wait for your round of golf. And I definitely need to go back for another of their cocktails… happy hour here I come!
