Brick Lane Tap Room: Unit 4, Dray Walk, Brick Lane, London, E1 6QL

Back in that little window last winter when restaurants and bars were open (albeit until 10pm, thanks Boris ya fun sponge), we were invited to spend the evening at a brand new American-inspired taproom in Brick Lane. I love a couple of beers, I love going out in Shoreditch and I love American food, so we’re onto a winner with this one. Originally intended as a pop-up, Brick Lane Tap Room is returning on 17th April with outdoor seating, so you can get your NYC vibes in Shoreditch all summer long.

Opening last October, Brick Lane Tap Room was created as a purpose-made socially distanced venue in the iconic Truman Brewery. Acknowledging that they might be slightly mad to open a new hospitality venue during a pandemic, founder Luca Pilato highlighted that purpose-built Covid-secure drinking spaces will play an increasingly important part of the fabric of the city as safe-spaces for Londoners to socialise. The tables inside were bench style, and being set in Truman Brewery the warehouse space boasts high ceilings, making the whole place feel very COVID-secure.

In true NYC style, the craft beers at Brick Lane Tap Room are supplied by various breweries, beginning with London Fields Brewery, Adnams and Brooklyn Brewery. Expect varying percentages from 4% to 5.5%, with names such as Bitburger (delicious, a must-try if you haven’t before), Ghost Ship, Mosaic and Hackney Hopster on offer, all at around the £5 mark. Reasonable, very reasonable.

Everyone knows that a few beers are best followed by great food, and Brick Lane Tap Room can certainly deliver; all the small plates that we tried were delicious. The Brooklyn-inspired street food menu features the classic cheeseburger and fries, hot dogs, chicken strips or wings and halloumi fries, ranging from £5 to £10 and all freshly-cooked.

Looking for other outdoor venues this summer? Check out Skylight rooftop bar in Tobacco Docks.

With a cool industrial feel and sports shirts lining the walls, Brick Lane Tap Room is the perfect slice of NYC in Shoreditch. A super casual spot for a drink or bite to eat, this is the ideal fun yet chilled location to ease you back into the world of socialising outside of your house; I can’t wait to visit again this summer and see what beers they have on. Get all the deets at bricklanetaproom.co.uk.

We were kindly invited to Brick Lane Taproom’s press launch so food and drinks were complimentary, however all views are our own. Thank you for having us!
