Celebrating World Nutella Day with This Decadent Nutella Martini Recipe

Last updated on October 5th, 2021 at 09:47 pm

Nutella and booze. Two of my favourite things, although not together. So I thought.. Upon hearing that 5th February marks World Nutella Day, my brain whirred into action on how I could incorporate the hazelnut chocolate into my day. Other than stirred into my porridge, which is how I begin more mornings than I care to admit. Enter: the Nutella martini.

Not gonna toot my own here, but this is a pretty banging Nutella cocktail. Chocolate-y enough to feel like dessert, but with the kick of vodka to keep it from being too much like chocolate pudding. Like a grown up milkshake.

If you would rather a less obviously alcoholic tasting martini, then go a little easier on the vodka. And if you’ve a super sweet tooth then the Chocolate Luxe Baileys would be a great alternative to the standard Irish Cream Liqueur.

Nutella Martini Ingredients

2 tsp Nutella
20ml Frangelico (buy here)
20ml Vodka (we used the JJ Whitley Artisanal Vodka)
20ml Irish Cream Liqueur (aka Baileys or alternative)

How to Make

For the perfect Nutella martini, all that’s required is a cocktail shaker and martini glass or coupe. Simply measure out the Nutella, Frangelico, Vodka and Liqueur into the shaker with a few cubes of ice, and shake vigorously. Vigorously being the key word here; you don’t want clumps of Nutella at the bottom of your glass!

I won’t lie, I was sceptical about shaking Nutella into the other ingredients. So many other recipes involved melting the Nutella into milk and letting the milk mixture cool before using, but (ironically, having made a chocolate cocktail) I don’t like creamy drinks so gave the chocolate-hazlenut-milk a miss. But happy to report that the Nutella mixed in just fine with a good shake.
